All along Pratt Street (and other places) in downtown Baltimore, the city has turned old parking meters into deposit devices for the homeless. The Downtown Partnership periodically empties them and uses the money toward shelters, food collection and other services for Baltimore's homeless.
A grand gesture, indeed, but I wonder how effective it is...
